11- 15 November is National Safeguarding Week, with organisations across Wales working to raise the profile of this important national issue.

Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend Councils are working with their partners including the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and South Wales Police to make sure everyone is aware of the signs of abuse or neglect in children or adults and how they can report a concern.

During the week, awareness-raising events for the general public and professionals have been arranged in Cwm Taf Morgannwg (RCT, Merthyr Tydfil and Bridgend) to reinforce key messages around safeguarding.

Our Valleys, Our Communities, Our Stations

During September and October, the Valleys Taskforce will be holding a number of public engagement events in collaboration with Transport for Wales.

These events - ‘Our Valleys, Our Communities, Our Stations’ - will provide an opportunity for people living across the valleys, to learn more about the adoption of the valleys lines and the impact this will have on local communities.

The Deputy Minister is also keen for these events to offer an opportunity for people to discuss the priorities of the Valleys Taskforce following publication of his written statement last month. This will include the Valleys Regional Park, Housing, and Business Support amongst other local developments and priorities.

The events will be structured as an informal, drop in style market place between 16:00 and 19:00, with a Q&A, chaired by the local AM, from 17:30.

Natural Resources Wales are launching the first ever Wales Outdoor Learning Week with the Wales Council for Outdoor Learning, celebrating all the wonderful outdoor learning which takes place in Wales and inspiring teachers, learning groups and families to make outdoor learning part of school and family life.

This is an amazing opportunity to showcase Wales largest and best classroom – our natural environment! Celebrate this national week with us! It couldn’t be simpler...
Just note the week in your diary, plan some fun activities to get your learners and family outside – a nature walk, a trip to the beach, run some of our activities and games, then do it!

As the provider and commissioner of health services for Rhondda Cynon Taf and Merthyr Tydfil, we are keen to involve you in the redesign of our services as well as hear your views on our current healthcare provision.

We hold several public meetings a year across Cwm Taf and you are warmly invited to attend any or all of the meetings below to express your views or ask questions about the topics on the agenda.

Public Consultation on the Provision of Adult Thoracic Surgery in South Wales

Local Health Boards are working together to look at the future provision of adult thoracic surgery services in South Wales. This work is being led by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC) which is responsible for the joint planning of specialised NHS services on behalf of all Local Health Boards in Wales.
An eight week consultation process has commenced and we would like your views on the proposal to locate a single adult thoracic surgery centre at Morriston Hospital in Swansea serving patients from south east Wales, west Wales and south Powys

Representatives from the Health Board will be giving a presentation on the proposals at our forthcoming Public Fora events. This will be followed by an opportunity for you to ask questions and give feedback on the proposed changes.
