Support for healthy Parent-Infant Relationships

1. Ground-breaking research conducted in the CTM region: “Securing Healthy Lives”
During 21-22, a significant piece of research was commissioned from the Parent Infant Foundation. The report of this research, “Securing Healthy Lives” was launched on February 10th 2022.
The key findings from the research were as follows:
1. In terms of the workforce: there was a strong desire amongst all professionals to know more, and do more. There is a lot of responsibility placed on health visitors; the biggest gap in terms of providing support was at the specialist level, but there was also a gap of assessment skills at targeted/universal levels.
2. Parents rated the quality of parent-infant relationships highly in terms of impact on child development. It was felt that there were gaps in terms of support for fathers, LGBTQ+ individuals, and individuals from an ethnic minority background.
